Good morning and win today! I am Simekha Cynthia ‘mapenziC’. Even though I call numerous places home, I am from Kenya and spent most of my adult life in Seattle, WA. I hold an AAS degree with a nursing focus from Bellevue Community College and a BS in Public Health and Geography with minors in African Studies and Global Health from the University of Washington-Seattle. After my undergraduate studies, I completed my MSW from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor and my MA in Sociocultural and Medical Anthropology from UW-Seattle. Currently, I am a doctoral student in Curriculum and Global Studies in the School of Education with certificates in Gender and Women Studies and minors in African Cultural Studies, STS, and Visual Cultural Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I am a TRiO alum from Bellevue College and a McNair Scholar alum of UW-Seattle. I enjoy drawing, sculpting, cooking, hiking, visiting museums, and watching cartoons with my siblings when I am free.
